Overview of University Foundation Programme in Diploma in Business, Management and Study Skills

This University foundation Business, Management and Study Skills is specifically designed for High School students who wish to progress onto undergraduate studies in Business, IT, Engineering and Humanities related programmes. There is a strong emphasis on developing the learning skills and study approaches that you will need in preparation for studying abroad. This ensures that students who graduate from our programme are well equipped to face the challenge of studying at an overseas university.

Students who complete the Foundation in Business, Management and Study Skills can gain entry onto the following undergraduate degrees:

 

Bachelor of Business Studies

Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management

Bachelor of Science in Marketing Innovation and Technology

Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance

Bachelor of Science in Digital Business and Innovation

 

This is a 120-credit (UK) qualification with classes that are taught online or in class by experienced teachers. To obtain the diploma, learners must study and pass 10 core units PLUS 2 optional units.

Course Content

University Foundation in Business, Management and Study Skills is taught over one academic year. In the first part, there is a focus on improving academic and language skills as well as modules that introduce students to core foundation level units which are so important for undergraduate level studies onto a variety of undergraduate degrees that are not just business related.

The principal aim of the course is to prepare students for entry onto degree programmes, with a strong practical element to the course allowing theories to be applied to practical situations.

Course Structure

This is a 120 credit (UK) qualification with classes taught online by experienced teachers. Assessments will include practical elements where necessary. To obtain the diploma and progress to their target undergraduate degree, learners must study and pass 10 core units PLUS 2 optional units.

Entry Requirements

a. English Requirements

Our Foundation Programme is open to students with IELTS from 4.5, with no single element below 4.0. The length of your International Foundation Programme will depend on your IELTS level – please see our study plan below. For the 12-month programme, the first 3 months will focus on English language skills improvement.

b. Academic Requirements

Have successfully completed the equivalent secondary education of pass grades in 5 IGCSE/GCSE subjects (including a minimum pass in Maths). Use Table 3 to find out the relevant qualifications for your country. If you do not meet these entry requirements, please get in touch with us to discuss your application. Please note for some DCU undergraduate programmes, a higher level of Mathematics is required and any offer may be conditional upon presentation of this requirement.
